Reza Kavosh is a distinguished Iranian interfaith leader, humanitarian, and diplomat who has dedicated his career to fostering peace through the lens of religious diplomacy and youth empowerment. With a background rooted in peace studies and international development, Kavosh has emerged as a key voice in the Middle East and beyond for the promotion of cross-cultural understanding and the protection of vulnerable populations.

Academic Foundation and Early Leadership
Kavosh’s journey into the world of peacebuilding began with a rigorous academic foundation. He earned a Master of Arts in Peace, Conflict, and Development Studies from the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace at the Universitat Jaume I in Spain.
A pivotal moment in his development was his participation in the WYSE International Leadership Programme (ILP) in Italy in 2010. Kavosh often credits this experience with shifting his perspective from traditional academic leadership to a more holistic, self-aware approach. He emphasizes that true leadership is not merely about personal success but about "growing others" and understanding one’s place within a diverse global ecosystem.
Professional Contributions and Humanitarian Work
Following his studies, Kavosh returned to Iran to apply his skills in practical environments:
Islamic World Peace Forum: He served as the Director of the Youth Department, where he focused on mobilizing young people to address societal challenges and advocate for peaceful coexistence.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR): Since 2013, Kavosh has worked as a Field Assistant for the UNHCR in Shiraz, Iran. In this capacity, he has been responsible for overseeing the livelihoods and welfare of Afghan and Iraqi refugees, ensuring that displaced populations have the resources necessary to rebuild their lives with dignity.
Religious Diplomacy and Global Advocacy
Kavosh is perhaps best known for his role as a Special Advisor to Dr. Bawa Jain, the Secretary-General of the World Council of Religious Leaders (an outcome of the Millennium World Peace Summit). In this role, he has advocated for "Religious Diplomacy"—the idea that religious leaders and faith-based values can be instrumental in resolving modern political conflicts.
He has been a frequent speaker at over 15 international conferences and workshops, where he presents on topics including:
Conflict Resolution: Utilizing the shared ethics of world religions to find common ground in volatile regions.
Youth Engagement: Empowering the next generation to take an active role in global governance and peace initiatives.
Refugee Rights: Highlighting the intersection between religious duty and the humanitarian imperative to protect those fleeing conflict.
Vision and Philosophy
At the core of Reza Kavosh's work is the belief that diversity is a strength rather than a source of division. His philosophy is built on the "WYSE principles" of individual responsibility and global citizenship. By bridging the gap between high-level diplomatic circles and grassroots humanitarian fieldwork, Kavosh continues to serve as a vital link between the Islamic world and the broader international community, advocating for a world defined by empathy and mutual respect.
